The challenge: High-demand Home IV visits

For patients on Home IV Therapy, frequent clinical visits are essential to ensure safe treatment. Traditionally, nurses visit three times a day to check pump function, patient observations, and symptom management. This places a heavy demand on staff time and often leads to delays in starting treatment.

Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner Daniel Harrison and Advanced Clinical Practitioners Natalie Spark and Lauren Olivier, identified an opportunity to improve efficiency without compromising patient safety. They needed a way to reduce the number of visits while ensuring patients still received the care they needed.

The solution: Luscii's Extra Measurements

By introducing elastomeric pumps to regulate infusion rates and Luscii’s remote monitoring, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust created a more patient-friendly and resource-efficient model of care.

Instead of three visits a day, patients now receive just one, saving valuable clinical time while maintaining safe, high-quality care.

By combining remote monitoring with an optimised care model, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is ensuring that patients receive the care they need while reducing the strain on clinical services.

🚀 223 home visits saved across just eight patients—a significant reduction from the 336 visits that would have been required.

🏥 No unplanned troubleshooting visits—all issues were managed remotely via Luscii or a simple phone call.
